The wine is named after Craig’s great mate, and our concreter to the stars, Angelo. After Ang and his team did such an outstanding job on our winery and cellar door construction, we thought it only fitting to name a wine after him made from an Italian grape variety!
Wonderfully bright and fragrant, the 2023 Angelo displays all the classic Aglianico varietal characteristics with plum, blackberries and cherries supported by violet, fennel and a ferrous lick. The pallet is incredibly structured, with assertive tannin and zingy acid providing a stage on which blood orange, blackcurrant, dark cherry and chinotto can perform.
Cellaring: The Angelo has all the elements of a wine that will continue to fascinate for at least the next decade but if you’re impatient it can certainly be enjoyed now. Ideal drinking window 2027-2032.
