2024 Field Blend (66% Grenache 19% Shiraz 15% Mataro)
Even though the percentages of the blend are relatively similar to the previous two vintages, the third release of this wine showcases the Shiraz and Mataro components more resolutely. Dark and soulful, a swathe of aromatics intrigue from the outset, with ripe blue fruits and cherry complimented by liquorice, lavender, cinnamon and tar.
The palate is balanced and flowing, with kirsch, dark cherry, blueberries and a brackish tinge. I love the way this wine has evolved over the first three releases, and I am both fascinated and motivated by the journey that we are on.
The fruit has been organically grown, made and hand bottled at Izway at our off-grid winery. The wine has at no stage left the growing site.
Only 400 bottles produced- third vintage release.
